Tippi Ling is stranded on a wrecked boat. She finds herself lost in her subconscious. She keeps trying to flee her own awareness (represented by the joggers) looking for hints such as the compass(that is out of date, and not working anymore) to show her a way out of her realizations. The ticking clocks are the inevitable outcome of her realizations, she knows that she can not fight her own awareness.
